Learning Opportunities
Develop your embroidery skills or learn new ones by taking advantage of the various learning opportunities offered by the guild. Whether you are a novice or experienced stitcher or, like most of us, somewhere in between, you are sure to find something that will interest you.
The guild runs in-person classes on Thursday mornings and/or afternoons from September to May at Centre Noël- Legault. We are fortunate to count among our members a number of talented and experienced instructors who share their knowledge and know-how in our classes. Our virtual Thursday meetings include stitch-alongs, stitch demonstrations, and tip sharing sessions.
Another learning experience available at the guild is the Special Interest Group (SIG), designed for members with a shared interest in a specific needlework technique. Most SIGs meet on Zoom on a Wednesday morning once a month for the entire season and one SIG meets on Tuesday evenngs twice a month.
The guild also occasionally runs EAC/ACB project courses offered by the Embroiderers' Association of Canada/Association canadienne de broderie. Guild members with similar embroidery interests form a group to follow one of the many and diverse courses on offer from EAC, stitching together and helping one another learn.
From time to time, the guild offers a class with an embroidery expert at the national or international level. These classes are a wonderful opportunity for members to watch and learn from a master needleworker.
Classes and SIGs are open to guild members only.
Fall 2026 Classes
Hardanger Heart: beginner Hardanger - three Thursday-morning classes - September/October - $35 (including kit)
Floral Golden Teapot: beginner/intermediate Japanese goldwork - two full-day classes - October - $175 (including kit)
SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS 2026-2027
$15 for each SIG for the entire season. Beginning in October 2026. All on Zoom.
Five SIGs are available this season: Samplers, Canvaswork, Whitework, and Creative (daytime meetings); Stumpwork (evening meetings)
