Special Interest Groups 2017-18

The Sampler Special Interest Group (SIG) is getting ready for another year of samplers. Once again, each person will choose her own sampler to work on, based on her own interest and skill level. The format for the meetings:

• 9:30 to 10:30 is quiet time for each person to work on her own sampler

• 10:30 to 11:00 will be the time to get help, discuss problems and share what we are doing (we always do a show and tell so that we can learn from each other).

• 11:00 to 11:30 will be the time to include a little history and discuss design for those who want to participate in this activity.

We are currently canvasing the 14 members of last year’s group to see if we will have room to accommodate new people. If you are an intermediate or advanced stitcher and the idea of working on a sampler and perhaps even designing your own sampler appeals to you, consider joining us.

This SIG will meet on the first Thursday of the month, from October until May. The cost is $25 for the season. See the Program Schedule for exact dates. Each person is responsible for getting her own sampler pattern and supplies. Registration for this group begins on September 7  with priority given to those who participated in the previous session.

The Blackwork Special Interest Group is a new SIG starting this fall. As with the sampler group, this will be a self-directed group that will decide on its own format for how the meetings will be structured. If the sampler group is any indication, finding a single project that all members want to work on is not a likely scenario, so it is likely that many of the members may be doing different projects from each other. This is not meant to be a blackwork course, but rather a way to learn from and encourage each other. Many of our guild members are working on Sublime Stitches so this could be an ideal place to share experiences with that project. The group is open to all levels of stitchers from beginner to advanced.

This SIG will meet on the second Thursday of the month, from October until May, and the cost is $25 for the season. See Program Schedule for exact dates. Each person is responsible for getting her own supplies. Registration for this group also begins on September 7.
